As your child transitions at Parkway from the nursery/toddler ministries to the preschool ministries, the same standard of care and excellence awaits them. The preschool ministries team of teachers are passionate about teaching younger children. They make the most of a child's inquisitive nature, and they also understand that movement is necessary for ministry to take place at this age.
On Sunday mornings, your preschooler will learn stories from the Bible from 9:30-10:30am in the Preschool room located near the nursery on the second floor of the Educational part of the church. At the 11:00am worship service, you can choose to have your child with you in the sanctuary for all, part, or none of the service. We understand that each child is different, and we want to attempt to accommodate your and your child's needs. For safety reasons, during the worship service, we do ask that older children (1st grade and up) not come upstairs to the extended session (childcare during the worship service).
On Sunday nights (6:00-7:00pm), the preschoolers will have the option of participating with you in our very family-friendly, contemporary worship service (on our home page, go to WORSHIP, then SUNDAY PM for a description of this service), or you may choose to have them stay with the childcare volunteers for that night on the second floor.
On Wednesday nights (6:30-7:30pm), Parkway's preschoolers have the opportunity to express themselves through music and movement for the first half hour, and then they learn about the importance of serving others through missions activities during the last half hour. The music portion will take place in their Sunday School room located on the second floor near the nursery. The missions portion, known as Mission Friends, is on the same floor but across the hall from the welcome desk.
We hope to see you and your child soon in the various ministries of Parkway for preschoolers!
Mission Friends:

Mission Friends is the missions organization of Woman’s Missionary Union (WMU) for preschoolers, ages birth through Kindergarten. The primary objective of Mission Friends is to provide a strong foundation for preschoolers in a Christian and missions lifestyle.
Mission Friends provides developmentally appropriate missions learning experiences to help preschoolers move from a self-centered focus to focus on others, to become aware that not everyone knows about God’s love and to understand ways they can help others know about this good news!
Each month preschoolers learn about a missions area in North America or around the world and about a missionary family serving in that area. Activities are planned around the concept areas of God, Jesus, church, self, world, community, family and God’s creation. Each quarter preschoolers are involved in A Mission Step, an activity to help others. This may be such activities as preparing care packages for migrant workers, adopting a nursing home resident, packing a shoe box with items for needy children or preparing hot chocolate mix for church staff members.
“I think Mission Friends is the best thing since sliced bread! We have so much fun in our class and it is so rewarding to watch the children develop and grow in their understanding of God’s love and purpose for all people.” Felicity Gordon, Mission Friends Leader
